BTEC LEVEL 2 AWARD IN INFECTION CONTROL

 
Introduction

This course has been designed for those individuals working in roles where they may be at risk of contracting or spreading infection. Care or nursing home staff, general hospital staff and all people who care for others, whether it is in their own home or community.

Learning aims
  • To give a clear understanding of the causes of infection
  • To show ways of reducing risk to themselves and the people they work with.
Course Content

2 units must be completed to achieve the full award consisting of the following;
 
Unit 1
  • Personal hygiene
  • Work environment
  • Food hygiene
Unit 2
  • Causes of infection
  • How infection is spread
  • Preventing and minimising the spread of infection
Delivery
  • Half day group induction
  • 1-1 assessment/observation session (approx 3 hours duration)
  • Completion of knowledge evidence workbooks
60 guided learning hours in total
